Meet Joy
Joy is a certified doula who brings both personal and professional experience to the families she serves. As a mother of six and grandmother of five, she has lived through many seasons of motherhood and understands how deeply birth experiences can shape family life.
Her own children came to her through both birth and adoption, and those journeys gave her firsthand insight into how different each story can be. Joy has experienced hospital, birth center, and home births, and she realized how much the right support can impact the way a birth is remembered. That realization inspired her to become a doula, so she could help other families feel cared for, supported, and confident in their own unique birth and postpartum experiences.
Since attending her first birth in 2013, Joy has supported families across the Indy and Lafayette areas, and in 2023, decided to become certified through Childbirth International. She is passionate about helping parents make informed choices and approach birth with peace and confidence.
Joy also cares deeply about how nutrition, chemicals, and stress affect our health. She loves finding and making recipes that are both healthy and tasty, and she’s always trying out natural alternatives to everyday products. (She’ll happily swap recipes if you have a favorite to share!) Doug, her husband, patiently supports her through each new health endeavor – and crazy recipe.
Beyond birth work, Joy stays busy with Doug, who pastors a small congregation in Thorntown. When she’s at home, she can be found homeschooling, babysitting grandkids, riding her bike, or enjoying coffee on the porch.
